Designing a Debt Free Neighbourhood

January 20th, 2012

Loopmedia design team, Fiction, worked with Force Four Entertainment of Vancouver to create the show opening for Million Dollar Neighbourhood, a reality television show airing on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network (Canada).  A months-long financial boot camp, Million Dollar Neighbourhood focuses on a small B.C. town as its residents attempt to regain financial stability through a series of challenges and community based tasks. The show, a new addition to OWN, challenges 100 real families to work together to increase their collective net worth by $1 million.

The designers created an opening that is glossy and bright with a distinctive air of inspiration. Footage of the shows participants was colour corrected with warm tones and highlights and then further embellished with glow and flare accents. Stylish animated 3D text and title treatments stand out from the footage with subtle white
accents and glassy compliments.

Million Dollar Neighbourhood premieres, Sunday, January 22 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Loopmedia Sets The Tone for Redemption Inc.

January 6th, 2012

Loopmedia design team, Fiction, worked with production company Proper Television to complete the show opening for CBC’s new reality based program, Redemption Inc. Based on the concept that everyone deserves a second chance at success, Canadian business guru and Redemption Inc. host, Kevin O’Leary gives a group of ex-convicts the opportunity to prove their business acumen on the right side of the law.

Mike Spicer and Dave Desjardins created a full HD broadcast package that takes an aesthetic trip back to the minimalist 1950’s. The design is classic and free of clutter with a continuous theme that transitions and threads from one idea to the next. The use of 3D takes the viewer on a multi-perspective joyride through the entire spot, ending on a logo design that is archetypal and polished. The simplistic colour palette of grey, black and red plays into the vintage 1950’s criminal theme, adding a rebelliously cool tone to the shows opening.

Redemption Inc. will air on Monday nights at 9 starting January 9th on CBC.
